Calling all Chicago designers! Where are you?

by Patrick Algrim

chicagodesigns.png

Browsing daily through my usual inspirational design journals and showcases, I come across so many beautiful pieces of artwork. But every time that I look at where the person or company is located, I always seem to find somewhere …. far from me! Where are all the Chicago designers?

Well, I am making a call, a call out to all Chicago designers. Graphic design, illustration, web design & development, and anything else! We want to keep this post at a “never-ending” status level.

So what am I suppose to do? I live in Chicago, I am a designer!

Post a comment with your latest portfolio or project, we want to see it! We want to discuss it, we want to share it, you need to show it! We are making a call out to all Chicago designers. Who knows, if enough people participate, maybe we will start something larger from this experiment.

  1. Hey all, I just moved Chicago. This post seemed like the perfect chance to get my work out there for viewing. Check it out and let me know what you think! Take care.

  2. Thank you Chris for being the first. Please be sure to post a working link or url in your comment post, in case others do not understand to click your name.

    Thanks Chris!

  3. I don’t have most of my work available online, but one of these days I’ll update it (yeah, some designer I am huh). But for now, http://teamabunai.org is my website and I have some of my work at http://teamabunai.org/corey.

  4. Chris, your site may be the first I’ve ever loaded in which music played and I was not immediately massively annoyed. By that is the power of the Lemon Jelly I suppose.

Awesome site Patrick–added to my daily list.

  5. Thanks guys for all the support. Keep this post up, tell your friends, lets get a network started!

  6. I work in Chicago as a graphic designer but my true love is the world below us, underwater. My images are from my home town of Seattle. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

  7. Hell yeah dude! A sweet design journal based out of Chicago!! I love it! :) Anyway, I’m also from Chicago and I do some freelance design part-time.
Here’s a link to my temporary portfolio. Remember…it’s my temp portfolio so it’s nothing special. Yet. ;) http://www.smashbase.com/portfolio

p.s. you no longer have only 13 subscribers to your feed. Now you’ve got at least 14!

  8. I’m a webmasterin the Chicago area (South burbs.) It’s great to hear that you’re looking for more Chi-designers. Should be a great group! Looking forward to hearing more about it.

  9. It’s great to have another forum for Chicago designers. Great job!
Just updated my portfolio site. Please take a look… and oh yeah, I’m looking for a job.

  10. Jack, you have a very nice portfolio!

  11. Thanks Patrick. Hopefully it will land me a new job very soon.

  12. Half of The Artist’s Guide gets produced in Chicago…

  13. Patrick, I love the site. Thanks for providing this forum for Chicago designers. Here’s my freelance website:

I’ll be adding several new website designs to the portfolio soon and taking down some old ones. I’ve also been working on a personal project in the form of a socially driven blog. I’d love to have other designers contribute their artwork to it. So if any of you are feelin’ saucy, here’s the link:

  14. The Internet is too vast… it took until today for me to discover this site!

At the beginning of this year I left my design job at a university and started running my business full-time. Aside from design service, I do a lot of publishing, and am starting a music label which will launch in June. I also write for the design site MoCo Loco (www.mocoloco.com) every now and then, and am always looking out for Chicago designers to promote.
