Google’s new Ad Manager might be the bloggers bestest friend yet!

by Patrick Algrim

Google’s Ad ManagerDo you have a bigger blog that is starting to sell lots of advertising? But you just can’t seem to coordinate all of the weeks advertisements or even months advertisements. Well it looks like Google has come up with yet another blog wish. Google’s new Ad Manager is the perfect solution for the growing blogger to display advertisements. The service looks to be in a “beta” for right now and doesn’t seem to accepting everyone who requests a pass at probably the best and most simple idea to come from Google (for bloggers of course).

While the service looks and feels really similar to Google’s Analytics, this service will let you manage advertisements inside of Google’s Ad Manager and easily let you display the advertisements using their javascript (much like Analytics does). The other reason why this service is so great is because it allows you to calculate how many impressions you would like each advertisement to have. When bloggers or even bigger Web sites start advertising, various times the customer requests how many page impressions or clicks they would like. Previously, without any use of plugins or extra backend tools, bloggers and smaller Web sites where not able to do such a thing. While there are a couple of tools out there which make it easier for you to track those types of things, Google’s Ad Manager seems to be the easiest.

Google’s Ad Manager also seems to track the entire analytical reports of your advertisements, which is extremely nice for the person advertising, since he or she may choose to have a monthly report given to them after the advertisement time is up. You are able to take a tour of Google’s new Ad Manager. Does anyone know if this will be invite only for a while? If so, would anyone like to trade some invites?

What do you think about this service? Do you think you will use it on your blog or Web site? If not, what other services or back end tools do you use to manage advertisements.

  1. I am deep within the planning stages of my redesign for positive space, and was just starting too look for some ad management stuff. Most of the solutions I have found so far have been clunky and not very user friendly. Knowing the google brand, this should be (hopefully) user friendly. If there are any invites for this I would really appreciate one. (ajzinni {at} gmail {dot} com

  2. Yeah I can’t wait until this officially released. It looks to be great in the tour. But I don’t know, it could be a stinker, since I use Mint more than I use analytics. Maybe this will just start a new inspiration for all of the great service designers out there. (much like Mint compared to analytics)

Hey Patrick, I just signed up but have not received the invitation. Does this ads manager allow flexible ad formats? ugh, I can’t wait to get inside hehe

  4. Hey Rangga,
I couldn’t sign up. Maybe they went open / live already? I am not totally sure…. From what I read they accept flexable ad formats, I am sure it will be joined with adsense and all that sort of matter. From the tour they said you can insert via html or javascript. So I am assuming it should be pretty flexible (if you want to use flash ads), since you can enter it html (the most flexible format when it comes to doing things not in power).

Let me know how it goes and looks!
