Today I want to discuss with you a really simple way to synchronize user updates using one universal system. Twitter has been proven to be a very popular service among designers, people of all ages, and wide demographics of cultures. While offering users notifications is a great way to not only promote new content, but stay in touch with your readers, it is the best way to keep them attached to your Web site as much as possible (with the exception of good content).

The use of twitter allows for your users and visitors to get your notifications via mobile, via web, or via email. Having the option of those 3 notifications is pretty powerful. With one simple plugin you can have WordPress automatically send out an update to your Twitter followers. If that user opted for updates to any of the choices (web, mobile, email) they will be updated of your recent post or Twittered information. Remember, users have less time throughout the day to concentrate on advertisements, so keep your promotions or Twittered information short.

Promote your users to stay up to date by using Twitter. They are more likely to already be using Twitter than to want to sign up for your “custom” notification system. The user will be happy that you are thinking about their time and effort involved when it comes to staying informed, thus making them feel slightly happier to sign up to receive updates. The highly customizable plugin allows you to include the latest posts title as well as include a “TinyURL” link so Twitter doesn’t get unhappy with your over 200 character update.
