Tuesday Tracks: Inspiring in simple ways
Inspiring others is difficult to do. Sometimes people contemplate about the most complicated forms of art and believe that they will inspire others. While there is a lot of art out there that is inspirational, sometimes the simplest things can be the most inspiring.
1. Coudal Partners’ - Field Notes
These little booklets are perfect for notes, designs, theories, thoughts and anything you can think of. With a great paper material on the front and back, these notebooks fit perfectly in the pocket and into your overall designer lifestyle. When you make the order you get a pencil, pen, Coudal Partners sticker and a calendar. The best part is the pencil. Words from the pencil itself, “About this pencil: Lacquer-free Renewable Cal-Cedar Wood Casing, Recyclable Aluminum Ferrule, Enviro-Green Degradable Eraser and Certified Non-Toxic Imprint Inks.” Pure beauty!
2. Team Work - Light Graffiti
This is a form of graffiti that is rapidly becoming more popular. Light graffiti has been featured all over the Internet, but I think this one image is very inspiring. Look at the level of craft the artists put into the “type.” It looks as if it was made with a computer, but in reality it is the work of crafty hands. Looks close to a Rockwell to me. What do you think the closest typeface might be? Do you find this to be a form of graffiti or just a form of photography?
3. Light Criticism - Advertising Graffiti
This is a short film everyone must watch. It’s a simple film about our economy, social living, and our country. How many advertisements do you think you see a day? Can you count them? Watch, learn and find out! For those of you who watched the film, how moving do you feel it was? I felt this was a very good short film that brought good attention to a simple cause. Since I live in Chicago, I see advertisements every day, looking at the number of advertisements that New York has not only shocked me, but made me think about how many advertisments I see in a given day.

Dig the Field Notes books. Are the covers letter-pressed? It appears so. Do you have any more info on the company & ordering? Their site is under construction now.
